A closer look at Newsboy
Three ways to tell your story
Newsboy runs in three modes, and most clients use a blend of them. Reporter mode covers what's happening right now: it picks a single timely story from your industry or your area and writes it up with your take, the article your customers would want your opinion on anyway. Roundup mode gathers several developments into one digestible digest, the kind of "here's what you need to know this week" piece that positions you as the person who's paying attention so your customers don't have to. Custom mode works from your own topic list, the evergreen guides Evergreen ContentArticles that answer questions people ask year-round, how-tos, guides, explainers. They keep collecting search traffic for years, unlike timely pieces that peak and fade. A healthy blog runs both. The AI-visibility snapshot →, how-tos, and explainers you've always meant to write. We set the mix during setup, and it can change any time your priorities do.
What a typical week looks like
On your side: nothing, unless you want there to be. On Newsboy's side: it checks the sources that matter in your field, chooses the strongest angle for your audience, drafts a complete article in your established voice, creates an original image to match, formats everything cleanly, and publishes to your blog at the scheduled time. Each article arrives with proper structure, a clear headline, scannable sections, and copy written to answer the questions real people search for. What setup looks like
Setup is one call and a look at what you already write. We ask about your business, your customers, the topics you want to own, and the ones you want to avoid. We look at how you already write, your website, your emails, anything with your voice in it, and build a writing persona from it. The Writing PersonaBuilt from your site, your emails, and how you talk to customers, then locked in so the voice never drifts between articles. You review and approve it before the first post publishes. How the intelligence works → Then we agree on cadence CadenceHow often articles publish, weekly, twice a month, whatever fits your business. Consistency matters more than volume: search engines and readers both reward a steady rhythm they can count on.Service plans → and mode mix, run the first articles past you, and adjust until it reads like you on a good day. Most clients are publishing within the first week. After that, the only required input from you is enjoying having a blog again.
You stay in control, and you own every word
Newsboy publishes to your WordPress site, not to a platform we control. Every article, every image, every bit of search value accrues to your domain and stays there. You can edit any post the moment it's live, unpublish anything, add your own articles alongside Newsboy's, or pause the schedule for a busy season. If you'd rather review before anything goes public, we can run Newsboy in a draft-first arrangement Draft-First ModeArticles land in your WordPress as drafts and wait for your click instead of publishing automatically. Same writing, same schedule, you just hold the publish button.Managed services → where posts wait for your nod. And if we ever part ways, the entire archive remains yours, it's on your site, in your account, under your name. Your Content, Your SiteBecause Newsboy publishes directly to your own WordPress installation, there is no lock-in and nothing to export. The articles are yours from the moment they are published, and they stay with your site permanently.Ask us anything →
How Newsboy fits your plan
Newsboy is one member of the Virtucom family of managed services. It pairs naturally with SocialBot, which keeps your Facebook and Instagram presence just as consistent as Newsboy keeps your blog, the two together mean your website and your social feeds are both working while you're working. Newsboy is included in our Managed Services plans; see the plans page for what's bundled at each level, or talk to us about which fit makes sense for your business.
What it writes
"A Local's Guide to Autumn in Old Town", a full article in your voice with an original image, published straight to your blog and built to rank on search.
That's what a lifestyle piece looks like. Here's the same service wearing two different hats:
A plumbing company wakes up to "What This Week's Cold Snap Means for Your Pipes", a timely article tied to real local conditions, written before their competitors have had coffee.
A boutique hotel's blog carries "Five Questions to Ask Before Booking a Winter Getaway", an evergreen piece that quietly answers the exact questions travelers type into search, and keeps answering them for years.
Different businesses, different tones, same rhythm: fresh, useful articles appearing on your site without you lifting a pen. Tuned to Your SeasonTimely pieces can key off real local conditions, weather, events, seasons. Evergreen pieces keep answering searches for years after they publish. The mix is yours to set.Content and social →
What it can write
One timely story from your industry or your town, written up with your take. The article your customers would want your opinion on anyway.
Several developments in one readable digest, the "here is what you need to know this week" piece that makes you the one paying attention so your customers do not have to.
The guides, how-tos and explainers from your own list, the ones you always meant to write, each with an original image and a structure built to be found.
Pieces keyed to what is actually happening: the weather, the events, the season, published before the moment rather than after it.
The answers people search for every month of the year, written once and kept accurate, so they keep bringing readers years after they publish.
What you control
The topics and the mix. The cadence, weekly or lighter. Draft-first or publish-on-schedule. The voice, tuned on the first articles until it reads like you. What the pictures may show. Every article arrives with a clear headline, scannable sections and answers written the way people ask, for search and for the assistants that now answer instead.
What a living site does for you
A living website that keeps itself fresh, and keeps working for you long after each article goes up. A blog isn't decoration; it's the part of your site that answers questions, earns search visibility, and gives customers a reason to come back. Newsboy makes sure that part never goes dark.
Straight facts
Every article is published to your own site, in standard formats you own, not to a platform you rent.
Written in your approved voice, structured to be found by search and cited by the assistants that now answer instead.
Each article carries an original image; nothing is stock and nothing is reused across clients.
Draft-first if you want it, publish-on-schedule once the voice is approved, and full editing rights the moment anything is live.
One monthly fee within your plan. No per-article pricing.
Generic gets sent back, not published. Every article passes the same checks as every post.
News pieces link their sources, at least two real ones. Evergreen pieces never invent a statistic or a citation.
A story with no honest connection to your business is dropped before a word is written, and crime, disasters and politics never make the list.
A usage panel inside your own WordPress shows what ran this month, in plain language.
A living website
New posts appear on their own, on a steady cadence, no gaps, no guilt, no 'last updated two years ago.'

Questions owners actually ask
How long does setup take?
Usually less than a week from first conversation to first published article. The setup itself is a short call plus a look at your existing materials so we can capture your voice and topics. There's nothing to install on your end beyond connecting Newsboy to your WordPress site, which we handle with you.
Will the articles really sound like us?
That's the whole point of the tuning step. We build a writing persona from how you already communicate, your site, your emails, how you talk to customers, and we refine it against the first articles until you're happy. Your voice settings aren't frozen, either: if your tone shifts or you want a different emphasis, we adjust the persona and every future article follows.
Do I have to approve every post before it goes live?
Only if you want to. Most clients let Newsboy publish on schedule and skim the results at their leisure, because the voice and topic boundaries are set up front. But if you prefer a review step, we can run posts as drafts that wait for your approval. You choose the level of hands-on, and you can change it any time.
What if an article gets something wrong?
You have full editing rights the moment a post is live, fix a detail, soften a claim, or unpublish entirely, all from your normal WordPress dashboard. Tell us what happened and we tighten the topic boundaries or source list so the same miss doesn't repeat. Newsboy is a managed service, not a vending machine: there are humans at Virtucom who care that your blog represents you well.
Can I still write my own posts?
Absolutely, it's your blog. Newsboy's articles sit alongside anything you write yourself, and many clients do exactly that: Newsboy carries the steady weekly rhythm, and the owner drops in personal posts when inspiration or big news strikes. If you're writing a lot one month, we can dial Newsboy's cadence down; when life gets busy again, dial it back up.
What happens to the articles if I cancel?
Nothing, and that's by design. Every article was published directly to your own WordPress site, so the entire archive stays exactly where it is, fully yours, with all its accumulated search value intact. There's no export process because there's nothing to export. Canceling simply means no new articles arrive.
How is this different from hiring a freelance writer?
A good freelancer is wonderful, and hard to keep consistent. Briefs, revisions, invoices, and scheduling all land back on your desk, and output stalls when they're busy. Newsboy gives you the consistency piece: a set cadence that never misses, a voice that never drifts between writers, original imagery included, and publishing handled end to end. Some clients use both. Newsboy for the steady drumbeat, a specialist writer for occasional flagship pieces. Keep Your WriterNewsboy is not a replacement for human specialists, it is the baseline that frees their time for pieces that need reporting, interviews, or a personal story. The two layers stack. The privacy commitment →
